- Hostway adds capabilities to hosted Exchange services (update)
- Apple iCloud email suffers brief outage, glitches
- Outsourcery raises £6.4m; lands big customer
Summary: Hostway added several value-added services for its hosted Exchange offering.
Details: The add-ons include archiving and retention, encryption and Active Directory synchronization. The add-ons are available as a monthly service and can be purchased either on a standalone basis or in a package. Hostway likely used a technology partner for these capabilities – such as a Global Relay or LiveOffice (Symantec) – and we have sent in a note to see if we can find out who the vendor is.
Angle: Hostway is positioning the new capabilities as a compliance offering and that certainly is not a bad way to go. It is never a bad idea to lead with the value-add or outcome rather than the nuts and bolts of the technology. For Hostway, this kind of value-add allows it to move up-market and serve larger organizations that take compliance, legal issues and security very seriously. Getting more email servers remains a solid way to expand an existing outsourcing relationship.
