- Jelastic PaaS confirms utility billing model
- Jelastic launches Java PaaS beta in Japan with Tsukaeru.net
- Jelastic PaaS update enables control for performance, pricing
Summary: Jelastic will launch a platform-as-a-service for the PHP programming language.
Details: The beta is targeted for 4Q12 and the commercial launch is slated for 1Q13. Jelastic is the startup that brought a platform-as-a-service for Java to market – licensing the product to hosting infrastructure providers. The goal is to take the PaaS approach and start supporting other programming languages. PHP is next on the list. The PHP PaaS, like the Javs PaaS, will feature automated scaling of infrastructure resources and utility-based billing. Users simply upload application code and run without having to re-write. Details are sparse right now but we’ll likely see Jelastic continue to partner with hosters. We will continue to track.
