Earnings season is in full swing and we took a close look at numbers coming from a number of companies across the infrastructure services ecosystem.

On the SMB side, things were mixed. EIG and Web.com did not do well, but GoDaddy continues to push forward with a healthy growth trajectory. Wix is part of this peer group but continues to grow at a much faster clip, showing that the site builder model for the SMB space continues to have legs.

The extensive data centre peer group continues to report and we took a closer look this week at the results coming from CoreSite and SCC in the UK.

We have been talking a lot about the edge and how new partnerships and deployment models are moving from drawing board to reality. Another wrinkle in this market has already emerged in recent weeks with AWS introducing a new edge device based on the Snowball data transport device. This should be an interesting one to follow.

There were also a number of interesting cloud consultancy acquisitions. On the strategic side, Hitachi Ventara acquired REAN Cloud, while Netgain in Minnesota and eHosting DataFort in Dubai bought consultancies as well.

Elsewhere in cloud, the managed third party model continues to mature and evolve. Rackspace added a new value-add layer to its managed Google service and ServerCentral partnered up with Turing Group and Equinix to roll out a managed service for the AWS Storage Gateway product.
