- GoGrid opens data centre in Amsterdam (update)
- Hostway enables hybrid with FlexLink; mixing and trading-off
- UK2′s VPS.NET doubles infrastructure location footprint globally
We saw a few more developments during the latter half of the week that reflects some ongoing themes in the industry. Telx partnered with a company called AppCore, which wants to help equip service providers with turnkey cloud infrastructure capabilities. This is just the latest move from colocation providers moving hard to build an ecosystem of cloud providers within their facilities. It is seen as a way to offset the impact of cloud, serve existing enterprise customers and encourage hybrid – in order to facilitate more footprint growth while driving interconnection revenue. Cloud node expansion also maintains steady momentum outside these developing ecosystems and this last week saw UK2 unveil its newly expanded cloud footprint. It is clear that cloud is increasingly about global scope and coverage, low latency, end user performance and compliance.
We slowed down posting last week in order to transition over to our new pay wall. Over the next few days expect to see some changes to our site (and please excuse any bugs you might come across). Starting today we will start to close off some of our content. We’ll start with the older posts back in October 2011 and work our way up to the latest content. Starting Wednesday February 15, the majority of our content will require a paid membership/site license. If you have not talked to us about signing up to be a subscriber please send an email to info@structureresearch.net and let us know you are interested. We can provide both a price quote and trial access. If you have any other questions we’d be happy to answer them.
Bear in mind we still want to contribute to the larger flow of industry-related information. To that end we will still open source some of our posts, this newsletter and its commentary will remain free (though the links provided will link to membership-only content) and the blog posts to the left side of our site will also not require paid access credentials. Guest posts from industry thought leaders will always be free as well.
