M&A, strategics, AZs, cloud, earnings
It was another busy week and M&A was a prominent theme.
We had a chance to speak with management and get more insights into the Ensono acquisition of Wipro’s managed hosting assets. Meanwhile, another provider was recently acquired by a managed IT services firm. Indianapolis-based Bluelock, which has done well enabling DR and migration to cloud for enterprises, was acquired by InterVision in California. On the data centre side, we saw ServerFarm acquire a London, UK data centre and Keppel completed its acquisition of Germany-based maincubes. Notably, both data centre deals crossed international borders.
The global cloud build out continues. Google brought online a third AZ in The Netherlands, while Tencent Cloud opened new data centres in multiple locations. Microsoft also put a number of new AZ’s (a new deployment model for Microsoft) into service.
We have been steadily moving through the recent earnings season. This past week, we took a closer look at GDS, CyrusOne, Iron Mountain, United Internet, iomart Group and GoDaddy.
There was also a number of interesting wins for the likes of Azure, iomart and ClearDATA. And IBM and New Relic partnered up to add application monitoring for IBM Cloud customers.
