It was another busy week as earnings season is now underway. On the cloud side, Amazon is the one to watch for and it had another huge quarter. The week was also highlighted by a number of cloud wins, more shuffling in executive circles, product developments and M&A.

The growth of cloud has been driven by bigger and bigger wins. Not just bigger customers, but all-in bets. Now we are seeing more significant expansions of add-on services. Major League Baseball is expanding into AI with AWS and Walmart is doing something similar with Microsoft.

There was also movement in managed third party cloud. Atmosera recently unveiled a tiered managed Azure service and Rackspace won another managed third party cloud deal.

There was more movement in executive circles. Armor brought in a new CEO and Packet’s new CTO is the former CTO of Equinix.

M&A was relatively quiet, but there was another deal in the mid-market as LightEdge picked up Texas-based OnRamp and in Europe, AXA took full control of data centre operator DATA4.
