It was a somewhat slower week with upcoming long weekends in the US and Canada.

There were a number of interesting developments on the managed third party cloud side of the game. On the provider side, the interest in cloud consulting shops has been steady as MSPs and managed hosters look to add this capability to their portfolios. Last week, one of those MSPs emerged as a potential consolidator: Onica in Los Angeles acquired Canadian cloud shop TriNimbus. This is its third transaction in the last year after raising $20m last year. On the technology side, CloudHealth Technologies has built a cloud management platform that helps MSPs build and deliver managed third party cloud services. This past week, CloudHealth was acquired by VMware.

There was movement again in executive circles. OVH in France brought in a new CEO and QuadraNet in the US has a new COO.

Meanwhile, data centre expansions in key markets continued. Equinix completed an expansion in Miami, EdgeConneX revealed plans to expand in Atlanta and Digital Realty is expanding further in Garland, Texas. Over in APAC, STT GDC further expanded in Singapore.

We also finished up more of our review of earnings seasons with looks at United Internet and INAP. Alibaba also reported its results and included some interesting data points about the progress of its cloud – from both a financial and product perspective.
