Edge, convergence, cloud, real estate
The edge was a big focus of the show and things continue to come into focus. Nowhere was this more evident than with Vapor IO and Crown Castle’s new integrated service with AWS. They are tackling the challenge of integrating the edge with the core. Decentralization is on its way.
Cloud is not going away and Uber could one day be one of the biggest edge use cases. It also spends a ton of money on AWS as its recently filed S-1 revealed.
As the sector continues to evolve, new players continue to jump in. Real estate is the most active area, with directly transferrable skills, and T5 data centres recently partnered up with QuadReal to build wholesale data centres on a global basis. These kinds of partnerships speak to the ongoing stream of demand coming from the cloud sector as adoption continues to show no signs of slowing down. Another all-in bet was made and as things get more complex, the more MSPs are relied on to optimize things and make them more efficient and understandable.
