It was a busy week on the strategic side of things as the sector slowed a bit for long weekends in Canada, the US and Singapore.
The M&A arena saw a number of noteworthy developments and the pastweek was highlighted by yet another telco spin-out of data centre assets. KPN in The Netherlands was the latest and agreed to sell its data centre business to an infrastructure investment arm run by Deutsche Bank. Meanwhile, still on the telco side, there was chatter in Canada about the possibility of similar moves. And TierPoint, while not on the telco side, is said to be exploring its own strategic options.
Elsewhere in M&A, there was a sale-leaseback involving DXC, Apptio added cloud cost optimization and management technology, while Green House Data in the US and Node4 in the UK expanded their service portfolios with acquisitions.
Earnings season has reached the tail end and in the past week we took a closer look at the results coming from TeraGo and INAP.
Finally, there was more activity in the APAC region. Google added a second cloud region in Japan and the enterprise sector has shown some change of direction in the Hong Kong market.
