It was a busy week that saw some important developments coming out of the edge world and notable M&A activity in the MSP and managed hosting space.
Edge continues to develop and evolve and partnerships will be key to making the many pieces work together. In the past week, EdgeConneX, Packet and Sprint partnered up to enable edge-based workloads, while Vapor IO and Digital are working together to enable edge connectivity.
On the M&A side, there were some interesting deals. Connectria purchased WSM International as it looks to further build out its managed third party cloud business, while MSP Thrive Networks acquired EaseTech. On the private equity side, Staple Street Capital took a stake in Cyberlink ASP and Total Server Solutions raised debt and equity to fund its growth.
Data centre operators continue to grow and expand and capital is crucial. To that end, DC BLOX and CoreSite recently raised and re-financed debt.
Meanwhile, in APAC, AirTrunk confirmed a new hyperscale-oriented build in Sydney, while Equinix teamed up with ecosystem partners to enable hybrid infrastructure in Indonesia.
Finally, there were more wins for public clouds and the data centres that support them.QTS reported its 3Q19 results and had strong leasing from the hyperscale segment, while Azure won a deal from Salesforce and Google Cloud won a healthcare customer.
