It was another busy week that saw more activity in the edge compute market and a number of developments in cloud.

Vapor IO continues to push forward and closed a Series C round as it looks to build out a US national footprint of edge compute regions. We take a look at the building blocks along with a new partnership it established with Cloudflare.

There were a number of noteworthy developments around cloud. On the infrastructure side, Microsoft and AWS confirmed new locations – live and in the works – in Canada, Japan, Israel and other geographies. Meanwhile, partnerships continue to flourish and the latest saw IBM partner with Google to support its Power Servers on Google Cloud. Other notable developments saw Google build a new migration service and HCL Technologieslaunched a new Azure practice.

Bare metal continues to serve use cases like gaming and OVH was the latest provider togear an infrastructure service offering for this vertical.

The last few weeks have been busy on the M&A front, but the recent week was lighter. APAC was an exception. GDS acquired a data centre campus in Beijing and an Australian sovereign wealth fund bought a stake in Canberra Data Centres in Australia.

Earnings season is about to kick off. But in advance of that, we got some insights on growth momentum from Vantage Data Centers.
