The COVID-19 virus continues to shake the global economy. The impact on the Internet infrastructure sector is of keen interest here and we took a closer look at the implications in our recent report (clients only). There are plenty of viewpoints and we look at some arguments that seem to have flaws.
While Europe seems to be taking a very big hit from the virus, there was no shortage of activity. Equinix opened another data centre in Poland, Microsoft partnered for its coming expansion for Azure into Spain, Digital Realty opened a data centre in Dublin and VIRTUS opened expansions. Europe has always been strict about data sovereignty and privacy and is trying to counter the dominance of US-based hyperscale providers with another new initiative. We take a closer look.
