It was a somewhat slower week given the long weekend, but there were some noteworthy developments in a number of segments.
There were a few M&A transactions on the SMB side. In Europe, Miss Group acquired another Finnish hosting provider, while WebPros continues to consolidate automation tools popular with service providers and picked up NIXstats to add monitoring capabilities to its portfolio. The SMB space continues to change and evolve and Dreamhost introduced a new line of professional services.
In other M&A developments, we will take a closer look this week at the Dartpoints acquisition of Immedion and the eStruxture purchase of Aptum’s Canadian data centre assets.
interconnection node expansion continues to push forward and Google Cloud is particularly busy. It recently brought online five new cloud-ramps across Digital Realty’s footprint, while Cloudflare rolled out private access to its network in over a dozen EdgeConnex locations globally.
Hyperscale data centre expansion activity shows no signs of slowing down but there are pockets of self-builds emerging. There is a new one in the Amsterdam area and that market is seeing more of this in general. This is a key theme in our newly published Amsterdam Data Centre and Interconnection report.
