Cloudflare rolls out R2 cloud storage service; attempt to disrupt public cloud, build next-gen cloud
Cloudflare introduced a new cloud storage offering called R2, which is currently still in development. The name R2 is a cheeky claim to being one less than S3, but stands for several catchphrases such as ‘really requestable’ and ‘radically reprogrammable’. R2 is being aimed at being a disruptive and more fairly priced cloud storage option, while forming the basis of Cloudflare’s transition from CDN, security and web performance services into the raw cloud infrastructure world.
