Limelight acquires Edgecast to create Edgio; CDN transition to value-add, the edge in full swing
Publicly traded Limelight Networks entered into an agreement to acquire and merge with CDN, security and video service provider Edgecast. The deal is expected to close in the second half of the year and is structured as a stock-for-stock transaction that values Edgecast at about $300m (~1x total top-line revenue). The newly combined company will be re-branded as Edgio.
