It was a quieter week leading up to long weekends in North America, but there were still notable developments around hyperscale, APAC, M&A and edge.

Recent weeks have seen plenty of activity in hyperscale. Oracle rolled out a new line of on-premise options for OCI that enable hybrid architectures, while the leaders at AWS and Google Cloud shared insights into the trajectory and evolution of those businesses. There was also some debate over the prospects of Azure over the long-term and we chimed in with some thoughts.

The APAC regions continues to be busy. There was activity in a new data centre area within Hong KongChindata secured a $500m loan and BDx set up a JV with Indosat to enter the Indonesian market.

There was some M&A in the past week. H5 Data Centers acquired a carrier hotel in New Mexico and Thrive continued to consolidate MSPs in Florida.

Finally, there were more developments around edge. AWS enabled Direct Connect in its US-based Local Zones locations and Zenlayer shared some data points about its expansion plans.
