M&A, financing developments, public cloud adoption, hyperscale expansion, builds
The recent week saw M&A, financing and capital developments, public cloud customer wins and more hyperscale node expansion on a global basis.
The larger data centre deals have slowed somewhat, but there were reports coming out last week that Brookfield is set to acquire a stake in France-based data centre operator Data4 in another multi-billion dollar deal. In other transactions, Macquarie acquired a stake in a new data centre business set up in Chile.
On the financing side, EdgeConneX closed $3.3b in sustainability-linked financing, while DataBank and Empyrion DC in APAC also secured financing.
Macroeconomic headwinds have slowed things, but there is still plenty of public cloud adoption from the enterprise space. Sinclair Broadcast and Experian chose AWS, while Rackspace moved a customer to a multi-cloud environment.
Finally, there was more expansion in global hyperscale markets. Google Cloud is readying a new cloud infrastructure region in Qatar and Oracle confirmed plans to build a second cloud region in Singapore. Meanwhile, on the data centre side, SUNeVision brought online a data centre in Hong Kong, Global Technical Realty updated on its progress in Israel, Aruba acquired more renewable energy in Italy and Data4 will expand in the Paris, France area.
