Webscale, hyperscale, self-build, Europe, connectivity, APAC, customer wins
There was more activity from across the sector even with long weekends approaching in the US and Canada.
Webscale providers like OVH and Vultr were active. OVH made enhancements to its private cloud portfolio, while Vultr launched a new marketplace. Meanwhile, the hyperscale platforms continue to build and expand and self-builds are an increasingly important part of that strategy. AWS has filed a series of applications to develop land in Spotsylvania, Virginia as the cluster around Ashburn continues to overflow outside the area.
With long weekends coming in North America, there was continued activity in Europe and APAC. Nabiax is expanding in Madrid, Colt TCS deployed more fibre between London and Paris, newcomer evroc entered the market. And on the cloud side, two US-based providers – KnownHost and TurnKey Internet – opened European locations with nodes in Amsterdam, while Oracle Cloud launched a new EU Sovereign Cloud.
In APAC, STT GDC opened its its data centre in Jakarta and AdaniConneX secured a new debt facility.
Finally, there were some notable customer wins from the likes of Hut 8, EcoDataCenter and Google Cloud.
