Another busy week saw more activity around the surging AI vertical, new company formation, some disclosures from privately held companies that shed light on recent momentum, developments in APAC and more strategic activity.

Accelerating AI demand continues to have an impact across different parts of the Internet infrastructure ecosystem. GPU supplies are being strained and hyperscalers are feeling the impact, and this has created conditions for independent providers to scale quickly, and inevitably this is followed by new company formation as entrepreneurs and investors pursue the market opportunity.

Earnings season has begun and we will have more details, but privately held companies have also been sharing data points that provide a picture of recent performance trends. Evoque recently signed a number of multi-MW deals, and one of them came from the world of AI, while MSP Lemongrass released data points about its user base.

APAC continues to see extensive expansion activity. Bridge Data Centres recently revealed plans to expand its campus in Kuala Lumpur, while DCI Indonesia opened a second data centre at its H2 campus outside central Jakarta. Hyperscale is a driver of data centre colocation in APAC, but webscale providers are also driving uptake, and UK-based bare metal provider Katapult is the latest to start building out data centre infrastructure locations in select APAC markets.

Meanwhile, there was notable strategic activity. GI Partners acquired a majority stake in two Chicago-area Digital Realty facilitiesCloudOne Digital acquired Servers.com and Digital Realty formed a JV with Reliance Industries to develop data centres in India.
