Earnings, M&A, NVIDIA cloud service delivery, cloud node expansions, outages
A busy week saw more from earnings season, continued realignment in the M&A arena, AI developments and cloud infrastructure expansion on a global basis.
We took a closer look at the results coming from Digital Realty and DigitalOcean. While the two operate in very different parts of the market, both were positively impacted by changes in the pricing environment, while also facing macro headwinds at the same time. Similarly, the main KPIs are trending in the right direction, but the outlook going forward is cautious and measured.
There was further realignment of assets that have faced challenges in the market. Cyxtera recently filed for bankruptcy and Brookfield will acquire substantially all its assets and combine it with Evoque in a US-focused retail colocation and interconnection play. Some other assets within Cyxtera were also moved.
Emerging AI demand continues to shape a new competitive landscape. A number of new operating providers have entered the market, but their main supplier NVIDIA is also considering getting into the game of direct service delivery. We take a look at the implications.
Meanwhile, cloud infrastructure platforms continue to expand on a global basis, particularly in APAC. AWS is getting closer to a launch in Malaysia, OVHcloud added more capacity in Singapore and AWS deployed a cloud on-ramp in Seoul.
Finally, we take a closer look at the recent Cloudflare outage.
