A busy week saw activity in cloud infrastructure and GPUs, more enterprise and SaaS movement between cloud and colocation, while there were a number of developments in Europe.
Cloudflare and Akamai released new additions to their portfolios. Cloudflare has been building the Workers cloud infrastructure platform and recently brought the Workers AI derivative live. Workers AI is a serverless offering aimed at Ai inferencing workloads and runs on GPUs. Akamai is also pushing into GPUs and built a new services aimed at the media and content vertical. Both releases are a good snapshot of how raw infrastructure services are not just running on GPUs, but being tailored and customized for specific use case requirements.
Recently, Amazon and JPMorgan Chase shared data points about cloud and their infrastructure strategies in regulatory filings. Zoom recently published its ESG report and also shared insights about its data centre and cloud deployments. Zoom is also already moving out of legacy environments, despite being a much younger company. In another ESG report, IBM shared details about its data centre energy usage. Meanwhile, Salesforce is also optimizing its internal infrastructure and we have a few details.
It has been a busy few weeks in Europe. Colt DCS acquired land and secured power for further expansion in London, Blackstone is reported to be planning a campus in the UK, Atman raised funds for an expansion in Warsaw and there continue to be developments in Dublin as this very strategic location deals with severe power constraints.
