Microsoft oversupply build situation seems to be near-term and the results of various dynamics; all signs point to little overall demand drop-off
In late February, various media outlets cited research commentary published by equity analysts that discussed Microsoft’s pulling back from data centre infrastructure (colocation leases and land parcel acquisitions and leases) commitments and suggested that this could reflect a developing overbuild situation. Since this report was published, the same equity analysts have commented on further infrastructure de-commitments from Microsoft amounting to about 2GW across the US and Europe.
