It was another busy week with a lot of activity around massive-scale cloud and more strategic developments.

Movement to massive-scale clouds came from all directions. 2nd Watch helped a company move from on-premise to AWS, while CenturyLink moved one of its customers to the managed third party cloud model. There is also more multiple-cloud usage being driven by specific capabilities. HSBC is an AWS user, but is now on Google’s cloud as well. Over in the UK, Claranet has been pushing its managed third party cloud portfolio and shared some data points about its progress.

Claranet was also involved on the strategic side as it brought on a private equity investor. Meanwhile, we have a more few details on the Oakley Capital acquisition of Plesk. Other strategic activity saw Evocative acquire certain data centre assets of 365 Data Centers and Zayo acquired data centres in San Diego.

We also saw more movement of enterprise applications migrating to cloud-based environments. AT&T is moving its internal databases to Oracle’s cloud and CGI shared some data points about customers moving from on-premise to cloud.

Earnings season continues and we take a closer look at Interxion, CenturyLink and Digital Realty’s results.
