Edge, wholesale colo, M&A, earnings
The sector remained steady as long weekends came to an end in Canada, Singapore and the US.
There was more activity around the different levels of the edge infrastructure space. On the edge data centre side, with compute moving in tandem, EdgeMicro confirmed it would extend its footprint to a number of new markets. The other way of thinking about edge is more akin to secondary data centre markets. And there is more evidence that demand here is meaningful. Flexential proved this with confirmed wins at the multi-MW level in some of these edge markets.
There was another interesting transaction on the hosting side. One of the longstanding providers in Canada – Superb Internet – was sold to a MSP based in New Jersey called CherryRoad Technologies.
We continue to track earnings across the sector. This past week, we looked at CoreSite and EIG. The two play in very different parts of the market, but are both dealing with a transition period as they look to re-position for growth amid shifting market dynamics.
