The past week saw more results coming out of earning season, hyperscale end user developments and expansion activity in Japan and Southeast Asia.
Earnings season is in full swing and we take a closer look at the results coming from Equinix, Rackspace and Digital Ocean. The three providers operate across a wide spectrum of services and provide a good picture of how the entire sector is tracking amid various headwinds. The results from all three included useful data points about where demand is and how it has shifted in the last several quarters.
Hyperscale end users continue to be busy. TikTok confirmed plans to expand its footprint in Europe, which is still in development, while gaming platform Roblox shared data points on its significant data centre infrastructure spend.
Hyperscale continues to drive data centre expansion activity in APAC. In Japan, AirTrunk started the second phase development of its campus in Tokyo, while MC Digital Realty brought online a fourth data centre build in Osaka. Meanwhile, the overflow situation around Singapore continues to develop. Batam, Indonesia is seeing more activity and Princeton Digital Group is the latest to enter the market, with a new campus build aimed at nearly 100MW of total capacity.
